3D-MAT®

3D Soil Retention Mat

Wind and water can often cause significant damage. Some erosion problems can be difficult to solve naturally, such as through planting or with materials that can biodegrade. In these cases, a permanent but nature-friendly root reinforcement system may be required in addition to preventing erosion. This is where the economical solution 3D-Mat comes in.

The 3D-Mat Solution

3D-Mat is a lightweight, flexible, and proven material that is an alternative to systems such as concrete, asphalt, stone, and riprap for erosion control. It is designed to assist in natural revegetation in erosion-prone areas such as slopes, channels, riverbanks, shorelines and quays, and green areas. On sloping terrain, it helps to prevent plant roots from moving together and washing away.

Structure

3D-Mat is a three-dimensional erosion control mat made of polypropylene fibres. Its ability to be filled with up to 90% soil ensures positive integration and rapid slope stabilization, while also helping to create a suitable environment for rapid seed germination.

Advantages

  • Increases soil porosity and reduces soil crusting
  • Provides flexibility to the soil under pressure and prevents compaction
  • Reduces soil water evaporation
  • Improves soil structure and prevents erosion
  • Allows plant growth in hot and dry climates
  • Reduces irrigation, labour, fertilizer and seed costs
  • Improves turf and plant quality

Applications

  • Erosion control on fills and slopes, roadsides...
  • Riverbank revegetation
  • Assists in the revegetation of steep and rocky slopes (with wire fencing on roads)
  • Revegetation of artificial lake, pond and stream banks
  • Turf sports and recreation fields
  • Golf courses
  • In the production of pre-fabricated roll turf
  • Lawn and flowerbed planting on slopes in home gardens
  • Landscape architecture
  • Landscape architects in garden design
  • On garden roofs in combination with drain
  • Floriculture and landscaping
  • On sloping garden roofs, in combination with drains,
